How to vote in Malta

Voters in Malta have to vote in a specific polling station based on their home address.
If you are a Maltese citizen living abroad, you will not be able to vote in the European elections from abroad. -

Persons with a Maltese identification document are automatically registered to vote.
The voting ballots are delivered at the home address of the voter. -
There is no deadline to register to vote.

An EU national can register to vote for the European Elections either in Malta or in any other member state.
If one chooses to vote in Malta (for candidates contesting the election in Malta), the electoral authority in your home member state will be informed to avoid double-voting.
To register, you will need to fill in this form and send it by post (free of charge).

In 2024, 6 Maltese MEPs will be elected. -

All polling stations are fully accessible.
The Electoral Commission facilitates voting by the elderly and people who are sick or persons with a disability by allowing them priority at the queue at their polling station, at a specific time on polling day.
A Braille template is available for use as a guide to visually impaired persons during voting on the ballot paper, together with a playback listening device.
Persons with a disability may request the assistance of the Assistant Electoral Commissioners to mark the ballot paper on their behalf. In such cases, the Assistant Commissioners are bound to secrecy with regard to the voting of persons whom they have assisted to vote.
