6 to 9 June 2024
The EU sets the bar for human rights on the global stage. Equal treatment no matter your gender, race, ethnicity, sexuality, ability or religion is one of the core principles of the EU. Plus, in the EU it’s also illegal for people to harass you based on your identity or incite others to discriminate against you, even if it’s online.

Political Programmes
EUROPEAN PEOPLE’S PARTY (EPP)
The EPP affirms Europe's Christian heritage and its role in shaping European values and traditions. The party emphasizes the importance of preserving European democracy, human rights, and the rule of law, and pledges to combat intolerance, antisemitism, and racism. For them, these principles are fundamental to European civilization and must be safeguarded.
PROGRESSIVE ALLIANCE OF SOCIALISTS AND DEMOCRATS (S&D)
The S&D recognises the EU's responsibility to promote and protect human rights worldwide. They advocate for a comprehensive approach to human rights, encompassing civil, political, social, economic, and cultural rights, with a special emphasis on women's rights. They highlight the importance of holding both governments and corporations accountable for human rights violations.
RENEW EUROPE
Renew stands for the promotion and the protection of women’s rights, the promotion of equality and equal opportunities, especially in the labour market, and the removal of all forms of violence and discrimination based on gender. Besides, they aim to protect and seek to further European liberal democratic values, the rule of law and fundamental rights. They call to counter the destructive efforts of populists from all sides of the political spectrum and extreme nationalists.
THE GREENS/ EUROPEAN FREE ALLIANCE (EFA)
The Greens/EFA stand for a society where everyone, regardless of gender or sexual orientation, age, race, or religion, can live a dignified and fulfilling life. As a political force, they put the human rights of all human beings, present and future, at the front and center of all policies they advocate and implement. They work to safeguard women's sexual and reproductive health rights and the rights of LGBTQI* persons.
EUROPEAN CONSERVATIVES AND REFORMISTS (ECR)
The European Conservatives and Reformists Group aims at reforming the EU based on eurorealism, respecting the sovereignity of nations, and increasing democratic accountability and transparency. They work to build a safe space for whistleblowers to report misuse, misconduct and illegal activity related to public administration and private companies, organised crime, tax evasion and tax avoidance. The individual freedom, right to life and conscientious objection are priorities for the ECR Group.
IDENTITY AND DEMOCRACY (ID)
The Identity and Democracy Party stands against the conditionality mechanism that withholds European funds from member states that deviate from the EU strategy and principles. According to them, European cooperation can happen only if all member states and peoples retain their rights by returning power to the member states, and democracy at the level of European cooperation can only be based on the clear and unequivocal consent of free people. The ID Party objects to the human rights urgency procedure.
THE LEFT—GUE/ NGL
The Left's vision on civil liberties and human rights is based on dignity, equality and solidarity, and feminism is one of the main topics they advocate for. They oppose the EU immigration policies and denounce the rise of dangerous racist and xenophobic rhetoric. They aim to defend the right of citizens to access information by protecting whistleblowers and making sure big technology companies cannot abuse our data.
